BMSSuite - Understanding the SystemHost advanced configuration

This can be relevant when needing to adjust the settings from the wizard values.

System Host - System tab

This is a summary of the selected system. It was selected in the Commission => System Selector page.

If there is no data it is important to resolve the missing system controller first. For a PC environment is usually the one that connects to the PacMon (UMons) through the system tray program.
If there is no system:
a) Check that it has been selected (Commissioning System Selector).
b) Check the Batrium system tray (visible icon in the system tray - bottom right).
c) Start the Batrium SysTrayApp service.
d) Open the system tray and check that the System Controller is running.

System
System Number is the unique number for the chosen system controller. It is the one that has been previously selected in Commissioning => System Selector. If this number is “0.0” there is no system found (go back and choose it from the Commissioning => System Selector).

Identification
New ID (button) should only be used if there are two system numbers on the network that are the same. This is very unlikely. If a New ID is used (pressed) it is essential to go back to the Commissioning System Selector and re-select the new number before continuing.

Code is a short name to identify the system. It has a default value that can be changed, however it is not recommended to do so.

Description has a default value. It is useful to add some text to the end to describe the connected application. It will help determine this system from a list of them on the network.

Comments can be any notes about the system. These comments do not affect anything else and can be used as reminders to the operator.

Use the “Default” button on the top line to set all parameters in the other tabs.

System Host - Network tab

The operator should not normally change these settings. Use the “Default” button on the top row.

They affect the network port used to locate the system (announce) and for normal communications. Changing these numbers from the default values 5001 and 5002 will create more complex changes in the software as well. This will require Batrium support.

The Host URL should also not normally be changed from the default value.

System Host - Shutdown tab

The System Host (usually PC) can be set to automatically shutdown if no messages are received after a length of time.

The operator should use this with care because if the shutdown time is very short (<120 sec), it is possible for the PC to shutdown before this setting can be removed (when the system does not successfully connect). This is made even more difficult if the system tray is set to auto start at logon as well.

This mode is also not appropriate when commissioning or diagnosing with the PC (when +12V is not applied).

Shutdown Mode: Use this to set the action when message time out has occurre.

Shutdown is the same as turning the power switch off.
Hibernate will store the PC state on the disk and then turn off the power (restarts reasonably quickly).
Suspend (or Standby) will stop the PC but leave the power on. It will recover quickly but the PC will continually use power (power must be left ON).

SiMon Settings

used for “+12V Drive”. If power is lost (no +12V) then CellMon messages will stop (the timer starts).

SiCan Settings

used for “+12V Charge” in a similar way. Unplugging the TC/Elcon charger will not stop messages because the SiCan will still send a status every 5 seconds. Only removing +12V will trigger this.

Shutdown on Idle: the default is OFF. Only turn this ON if the Idel Time is set to a large value (e.g. 100,000ms)

Idle Time: Use a high default value of at least 100,000ms (i.e. 100 sec) to allow the PC to be abel to restart before shutting down again.

System Host - Options tab

The operator should not normally change these settings. Use the “Default” button on the top row.

Calc Processor

They affect which messages and how often they are sent over the network.

Normally only the “Pac Recalc” is set ON.
